Peer Mentoring Programme
Physics for Everyone.
This Peer Mentoring Programme involves 5 training sessions on physics-related science education for around 100 young people, aged 14-18, to encourage interest in science.
This peer-led science engagement initiative trains young people to design and deliver interactive workshops, demonstrations, and presentations in schools. Young trainers develop leadership, communication, and subject expertise while inspiring peers through hands-on experiments and collaborative learning. The program creates sustainable science advocacy networks, fostering curiosity and confidence for science.
Who are we reaching?
Young people aged 14–18
Supporting pupils as they make important decisions about their education and future pathways.

Under-represented pupils
A particular focus on young people from backgrounds currently under-represented within physics.

Young people facing disadvantage
Working with schools serving communities experiencing higher levels of socio-economic deprivation.

The programme specifically aims to prioritise under-represented young people, including pupils eligible for Pupil Premium and those from minority ethnic backgrounds, while also placing particular emphasis on female students.

When young people see relatable role models, possibilities can feel more achievable.
The programme draws on research and previous mentoring evidence suggesting that access to relatable mentors can support engagement, attendance, educational outcomes and aspirations.

The proposed approach builds on the existing Peer Action Collective, recruiting predominantly minoritised young people from Lancashire as mentors and giving them the opportunity to become role models for others.
