NHS Cancer Screening Champions Programme
Inclusive North delivered the NHS England Cancer Screening Champions Programme across Lancashire, working with communities where cancer screening uptake was lower and traditional health messages were not always reaching people.

By training trusted people within communities to become Cancer Screening Champions, the programme took vital information about bowel, breast and cervical screening directly to people in familiar and accessible settings.
Key Findings
89 cancer screening champions trained.
1120 people directly reached.
97% took positive action following engagement.
64 community cascades delivered.
90% increased the awareness of cancer screenings.
The programme demonstrated something that remains central to Inclusive North’s approach today: trusted community voices can break down barriers, build confidence and connect people with services that could save their lives.
