Inclusive North supports call for a National Anti-Racist Strategy

Inclusive North is proud to stand alongside The Runnymede Trust and more than 100 organisations from across civil society in supporting a call for the UK Government to introduce a National Anti-Racist Strategy.

The open letter, coordinated by The Runnymede Trust, highlights the urgent need for a coordinated approach to tackling racism and discrimination across the UK. It calls for a strategy that is developed alongside civil society organisations and communities with lived experience of racism.

The letter states:

"From widespread racist violence, to attacks on places of worship and burning down homes and businesses of people of colour, our new Prime Minister is inheriting a country which is ripping at the seams."

"Successive governments have not only failed to deliver a coherent and ambitious anti-racist strategy, but have fuelled and encouraged racist hatred through cruel policies which demonise and scapegoat people of colour and migrant communities."

"This time it must be different. That’s why, alongside over 100 organisations from across civil society, we’ve written to the Prime Minister to urge him to deliver a national anti-racist strategy, built with civil society and communities affected by racism and discrimination."

Working together to tackle racism and hate

The need for meaningful action on racism and community cohesion is reflected in communities across the country, including here in Lancashire.

In July 2026, Inclusive North hosted the inaugural Lancashire Against Hate event, bringing together representatives from the voluntary, community, faith, public and private sectors to address the growing challenges of racism, hate and division.

The event created space for important conversations around the experiences of communities affected by racism, the role of organisations in challenging hate, and the importance of working together to create safer and more inclusive communities.

The event included contributions from community leaders, elected representatives and organisations working across the region, including discussions on how collaboration can help strengthen responses to hate and discrimination.

A shared commitment to lasting change

Tackling racism requires collective action. It requires communities, organisations and decision-makers to work together to challenge inequality, listen to lived experiences and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to feel safe, valued and included.

Inclusive North remains committed to working with partners locally, regionally and nationally to support racial justice, strengthen community voices and help create lasting change.
