MP Confirms Shabir Ahmed Has Been Moved from Hyndburn

Sarah Smith, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, has confirmed that Shabir Ahmed has been moved from Hyndburn following his release from prison.

In a public statement, the MP said she had worked with the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and Lancashire Police to secure the move, thanking the organisations involved for their action.

The statement expresses support for Ahmed's victims and argues that he should not have been placed in the area following his release. Sarah Smith also reiterates her call for wider exclusion zones to prevent offenders of this nature from being housed in Lancashire or the North West, and states that she supports efforts to deport Ahmed, who she says is not a British citizen.

The MP adds that she will continue to campaign on behalf of victims and press for the deportation of foreign nationals convicted of serious offences.
