New Resources from Sistren Legal Collective: Supporting Race Justice at Work and Social Justice Organisations

At Inclusive North, we're always keen to share resources that help individuals, communities and organisations build more inclusive, equitable workplaces and strengthen social justice practice.
We were recently made aware of two excellent toolkits developed by Sistren Legal Collective, and we're pleased to share them with our network.
Racism at Work: A Community Legal Toolkit
The Racism at Work toolkit is a practical guide designed to help people better understand their rights and options when experiencing race discrimination in the workplace. Rather than offering legal advice, it explains employment law in accessible language and uses real-life scenarios to help readers understand how the law applies to common workplace experiences.
The toolkit covers topics including:
Understanding workplace race discrimination and the Equality Act.
Recognising issues such as microaggressions, exclusion, harassment and victimisation.
The legal protections available to workers.
Practical guidance on navigating complaints and taking action.
The limitations of the law and the importance of informed decision-making.
Importantly, the resource centres lived experience while making complex legal concepts easier to understand for people who may not have access to specialist legal support.

Legal Structuring for Social Justice
Sistren Legal Collective has also developed Legal Structuring for Social Justice: A Community Legal Toolkit, aimed at grassroots organisations, collectives and community groups considering how best to structure their work.
The guide explores different legal structures available to organisations in England and Wales, explaining the benefits and challenges of options such as unincorporated associations, Community Interest Companies (CICs), Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) and fiscal hosting arrangements.
It also discusses practical issues that many emerging organisations encounter, including governance, funding, liability and incorporation, using examples drawn from the experiences of community organisers.
For organisations working to create positive social change, the toolkit provides accessible information to support informed decisions about organisational development.
